What about the poor sods working in the stores stacking shelves etc? Presumably they'll be wearing them 9-5 which is pretty much continuously IMO. But maybe staff are exempt? I don't know....

I think lots of them are already wearing masks.

Im fine with mask requirements in shops and anywhere else indoors but the timing is a little off. Would have been better introduced during peak. Especially considering they are advising people to just make their own masks so shortages shouldn't have an impact.

People need to get used to it NOW, to get ready for 2nd wave - winter is going to be brutal and supermarkets specifically are high danger since almost every household will have to go there.

I shouldn't really bite but, really??

and what is the death rate exactly? and don't most people under a certain age without underlying conditions get off with fairly mild symptoms?

Hardly worth crashing the economy off a cliff and storing up massive problems for the months and years to come - mass unemployment, business failures, home repossessions, huge increase in mental health issues among the general population, suicides, increased deaths from non-covid related issues.

Not in the UK, but in some US states you must wear them in any public space IIRC which could be quite prolonged.

I saw somewhere staff may be exempt but... you just have a company policy to replace it every X hours.

Most moronic thing I've ever seen one of your stupid sockies post. Poor trolling.
