Losing 20% of income should be enough to feck up most peoples finances as savings rate in this country was in low single digits, other than that it's great
True, though a lot of people on furlough would be from hospitality sector, so no tips to supplment pathetily low wages of which they only get 80%

Except they are not being forced to eat £3 meal deals (budget) or £8 Pret (contractor) lunches, £3 coffees etc... Nor are they paying to go to / from work and no school costs (lunches, travel, trips, uniform etc) The 20% might not be such a big loss for many.

n.b. yes, I get that they *could* bring their own lunch and drink the pond water that is most office coffee... but most can't be "bothered"
