    (based on: U.K. Population (2020) - Worldometer )

It's worth considering that in round 2 the UK will be starting from a position of >250,000 individuals who have already had damage to their respiratory system and are compromised for the next time.

Looking on the bright side, our excess deaths are close to zero now, so the 63,000 extra that died Feb-June should mean we have a reduction the rest of the year - based on the theories of some on here that all COVID fatalities were about to die anyway.
I heard a major concern today, that with Flu coming for winter, people are really scared that how do we manage it?

On one hand, you've a mildly contagious killer, that we have treatments for - but has similar pathology (pnuemonia)
Then you've got Covid, highly contagious, that will be initially harder to distinguish with flu victims with pneumonia.

Then you've the whole political problem of deniers / people with economic interest , playing down Covid as "just flu like" - but trying to also send a message that its not flu, but may be mistaken for flu, so please, can EVERYONE have a flu vaccine, because its cheap and we know it works fairly well.

We are going to end up having to put flu victims in with Covid victims, with a staff base that hasn't taken holidays all year , and are now dropping with stress and worry. Some clinicians have 3 month backlogs and new "business as usual" patients coming in who are more unhealthy than they usually would be, because they've either been unable, or unwilling to come in early enough.

Wow, that's really doomy. Lets hope the world is mistaken and this is going to mutate in a way that becomes less dangerous, or we find a decent treatment plan.

Prediction - there will be a lot more people turning up to get flu shot, and it will transpire that HM Govt misjudged demand and did not order enough shots on time...

At least they've ordered them, 6 weeks after Germany had...

Why order ahead of time when you can just order from MarillionFan’s “Chalk, Medicines and other Stuff” shop with free next day delivery?

I would not class flu as a mildly contagious killer; I know young people died of this in recent years. Fortunately, a large percentage of people take the trouble to get vaccinated every year. What pisses me off is some people I have worked with in the past chose not to get vaccinated while openly saying it is bravo not to do so.

It would make sense this year if everyone got vaccinated against flu, at least it would take some pressure of the NHS so that the effort can be spent on Covid-19.

Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional - Office for National Statistics

Make if this info what you want but we are at a low for deaths per week for a good few years.

And if you remove those who died of CV (and according to the rules they would not have died has CV not existed apparently) that figure is even lower.

              Makes you wonder...

Two visits to your dentist this week?
Is the average still 10 a week, or are you just trying to re-write the averages to make it seem like you’re fractionally closer to having a point?

Perhaps we need to consider the average number of deaths during the Spanish flu to this one, so that you and DC’s frontmen can say how much better we’re doing now. It’s like nothing has happened.

...or reality doesn’t apply in oPM world.

Why are you arguing with someone who doesn't share your opinion?
