US trade talks hit by major blow - delays could change everything for UK

Experts have already stated, that if Mr Biden wins the election in November he will look to favour a deal with the EU over Britain.

The two sides have now agreed to postpone meetings, due to take place in Boston, until next spring due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. Talks were also hit by delays due to US tariffs on UK products entering America, in particular on whisky. However, with the November election fast approaching, the UK could find itself negotiating a future deal with Democrat Joe Biden instead of Donald Trump.

"...concerns over the coronavirus pandemic" have not stopped other negotiations.

US Congress must approve any deals anyway, Trump is done for but since he won't be leaving until 21 Jan 2020 it means there won't be deal in place after 31 Dec 2020.

I guess we'll be in the middle of deadly Covid winter to worry about such small things as WTO tariffs

I think we need to move on from this being a Brexit issue. That part is over and gone.

So far we are having problematic/tulip trade deals with NZ, JP, EU, US among others. I am not aware of any negotiations that are on a path to success but stand to be corrected.

We are being hammered in 2020. 2021 is going to be horrific.

How much money alcohol companies donated to be the centrepiece of trade talks?

Government had no problem to create level playing field for IT workers (at our disadvantage).

How different would it be if every contractor wired some of that bounce back loan to the party account.
