    From the Murdoch press:

The BBC announced its decision on Monday after the Proms conductor Dalia Stasevska, who is from Finland, pushed for the songs to be dropped because of their associations with slavery and Britain’s colonial past.

So there is some kind of wokeness going on. Stasevska hasn't commented, and the BBC will neither confirm nor deny. Some musicians have stated it would be bad to force black people to sing such songs. There's no evidence that the BBC decision is due what Stasevska allegedly said.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Of course there's wokeness going on. Standard leftist stance is freedom of speech until we disagree with what you say.

Yep, I think a couple of other songs are going to have solo singers, "never walk alone" and another one I can't remember. Just BBC trying to not be racist by classifying a song about stopping slavery as racism.

He then hid in a tent to avoid saying anything about the A-level fiasco
And when it comes to fulfilling his pledges/promises on Brexit, he's still hiding from comment.

But on the most important issue of the day - not the Covid R rate climbing, not masks in schools, not the economy, not unemployment, but on a lack of crowds to sing songs, he's all over that like a big strong prime minister. Makes you proud to be British having a leader like him!

Now now. He's just the right leader for these troubling times.

I personally couldn't give a toss about it although the interesting thing reading the comments, particularly in the daily rags, is that not one patriot has actually written the name correctly, its 'Rule, Britannia!' I also suspect that the majority of the people complaining only know the following two lines and nothing else:

              "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
              "Britons never will be slaves."
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

At least get the first line right if you want to make a cuck's point correctly.

With a two-fingered salute to the BBC, Vera Lynn's rendition of 'Land of Hope and Glory' has now entered at No.1 in the British iTunes chart

Failing states often see a retrenchment into patriotic and nationalist symbolism. Nothing unexpected.

Not sure how you see that as a "two-fingered salute to the BBC"

Perhaps you're one of the people who has cancelled their membership of the National Trust because it has been explaining the history behind some of the artefacts it looks after, and those that are calling it "self-recrimination and wetness" seem to find it objectionable, preferring to alter history, leaving out the bits that upset them.
