Like him or not Putin is highly popular in Russia even if any vote rigging were discounted, Putin would win by a wide margin.

Buy all accounts Novichok is a lethal weapon; so far three people have been the target of attacks and they all survived. If I was an assassin; I would want a refund for the Novichok.

During the 90s Russia was as wild as the wild west portrayed cowboy films. During de-nationalisation shares were distributed to the population but were immediately bought up by oligarchs and the Russian Mafia and ****** Mafia. Putin has been repossessing these companies and wealth back to state control however, as night follows day, no doubt some wealth has found its way in the pockets of Putin his supports.

    Putin has made many enemies.
Putin has some really dodgy supporters who would do anything to stifle opposition.
Putin's political opponents do not have clean hands and there could have been a false flag operation.
Putin's political opponents are often involved with one of the Mafia groups, there could be in fighting or fighting between gangs.

It could be Putin, it could be Putin's opponents, it could be criminals.

It's easy to be popular when you control the media.
