So this is what Trump is afraid off...

He will be dragged to trial for corruption and fraud like former French President Sarkozy...

Nicolas Sarkozy in dock as ‘historic trial’ over corruption finally begins | Nicolas Sarkozy | The Guardian

Nicolas Sarkozy, the former French president, will make history on Monday when he appears in court accused of corruption and influence peddling.

The case is the first of several investigations against the rightwing politician who led France between 2007 and 2012 to come before judges after years of attempts to have the charges dropped or nullified.

In a case known as the “bugging affair”, the prosecution alleges Sarkozy and his lawyer, Thierry Herzog, attempted to bribe a senior magistrate, Gilbert Azibert, to hand over secret information from a separate investigation against the former French leader. In return, Sarkozy is accused of offering to help secure Azibert a cushy job on the Côte d’Azur.

Former US presidents are never taken to court simply because all US presidents indulge in the same amount of corruption, bribery and influencing.
Similar can be said about UK prime ministers. Nobody will take BJ to court for paying his chums millions for brokering PPE deals.

Although you are right historically, I do not agree BJ and cronies will escape justice in this instance, too many lives ruined (if not ended) through their criminal incompetence.

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Pence could only pardon him for things he is convicted of. If charges aren't brought until after Bidens inauguration Pence won't be in a position to pardon anyone anyway. Trial and conviction would be years away.

That's totally not true - AFAIK Nixon got pardon for any crimes (!) during his time in office.

It's a good way of doing it - covers everything and avoids putting any juicy details, however we'll see if Pence dares to also pardon anything Trump did BEFORE getting elected, seems very likely since Trump got lots of exposure and Pence's career will be in the toilet anyway, so why not.

Would be funny if Pence refuses to pardon him, so Trump would have to pardon himself, I'll lose 250 quid but it will be by far the most enjoyable outcome since there is no way such self-pardon (for him and his family) will stand even in fixed US Supreme Court

Perhaps if you understood the situation at the time those deals were agreed, you might realise exactly why it was done as it was. There is a difference between criminal behaviour and incompetence, just as there is between the PM and the Civil Servants who agreed the deals.

Boris is a fool and a charlatan, but he isn't going to court any time soon.
