      Yes, but neither of those lenses would be aiming at the rightmost side of the road (as shown on photo evidence Exhibit 1)

        It's a still from a comedy film Ask a Policeman (1939) starring Will Hay and his two sidekicks Graham Moffatt and Moore Marriott, who were with him in several films.

        It's about a sleepy village police station threatened with redundancy, due to the absence of crime in the area for many years. So the coppers decide to set up speed traps to gain some convictions. Needless to say, it all goes horribly wrong and then from bad to worse when the chief constable driving past is accidently pole-axed with that 30 MPH sign one of them is stuggling with in the picture! But in the end they redeem themselves by finding a real crime ..
