Why not let nature take its course?

Scientists plan mission to biggest iceberg as it drifts towards island | Sea ice | The Guardian

So it's a bad thing a chuck of ice the size of Luxembourg broke off BUT ice breaking off glaciers does happen naturally too (as in, it's not always driven by man-made climate change). Surely by interfering in where it lands and drops its fresh water there could be further, unknown repercussions?

It puts me in mind of all these "rewilding" enthusiasts who can't decide which epoc a particular piece of land should be restored back to.

Anyway, dunno what a bunch of scientist could hope to achieve. Send in Bruce Willis instead.

Tow it to the English Channel. One to stop the French fisherman and the other to save SE England from becoming a desert due to Man Made Climate Change.

But south and east of a line roughly from Norfolk to Hampshire, Britain is increasingly like a desert. It's one of the driest areas of Europe, and rainfall is declining.

That's what happens (amongst other things) when you build on flood plains and reservoirs!

Where is that mentioned in the article? I thought they were just studying it to see what affect it has.

They are, I was extrapolating to one potential outcome of their research.

It masses 315 billion tonnes. It might take some effort to shift it to a new course.
