Meanwhile, back on topic...
The government have screwed this up for both teachers and students.
My 17 year old has had to isolate at home for 5 weeks this term. Obvously he didn't attend school from March to September, and even when he has been in school, the teachers have often been isolating thenselves.
The online teaching he has had includes:
- Lessons from home where the teacher failed to turn their microphone on. This has happened at least three times.
- Classes held in school where the teacher was isolating at home and had no video or audio of the classroom.
- Cancelled field trips (a required part of the course). In the end the school asked us if we could take them instead.
- Anytime he has a double free period he has to come back home. So he can spend as much as 80 minutes a day walking back and forwards from home to school.
Mrs Albert works in a special needs school and the staff have been decimated by Covid as the kids can't be expected to understand or comply with social distancing regulations. They have been happy to keep going as long as possible, but just wanted a bit of flexibility to close early before Christmas as they can scarcely cope.England's greatest sailor since Nelson lost the armada.Comment

So a very happy Christmas from myself and everyone I have extolled your virtues to.
Enjoy the festive season, and I hope 2021 brings you prosperity & good health.

They have said they will give advance notice of the topics that they will be tested on and may be given extra resourses in the exam.
But the difference in hours of face to face taught between his school and an all girl one just down the road is quite remarkable.
Wales and Scotland have ditched exams but not England (yet).England's greatest sailor since Nelson lost the armada.Comment
