    Party of business

“ But senior government sources say that, if the coronavirus vaccination programme remains on track, the chancellor will also begin to plug the yawning deficit in the public finances.

Corporation tax will be the first to rise. Sunak regards it as the fairest way to begin raising significant sums, because it targets business profits rather than people and firms who have been plunged into the red.

A senior Whitehall source said: “Things would have to go pretty badly wrong for us not to begin some consolidation in the budget.” This is understood to be code for beginning to raise taxes.”

“ Boris Johnson consults businesses on plan to become Europe’s Singapore

Boris Johnson will hold talks with business leaders today about cutting red tape as ministers draw up plans to turn Britain into the “Singapore of Europe” now that it has left the European Union.

The prime minister will speak to 30 senior leaders about topics such as “regulatory freedoms” and reforming EU rules. Rishi Sunak, the chancellor, has been charged by Mr Johnson with leading a cross-Whitehall committee which will require departments to closely examine which regulations can be reformed. ”

“ A government source said that Mr Johnson was pushing for Britain to become a low-tax, low-regulation regime like Singapore. Last month Mr Johnson raised the prospect of tax cuts for entrepreneurs. He told a Facebook question-and-answer session: “We’ll be looking at the tax environment and the regulatory environment and everything we can do to encourage and support business.””

Yeah, they are looking at it because it was evil EUSSR that forced Britain to nuke ER

So if it wasn’t for pandemic he would not have increased taxes

They should increase tax of those making a profit despite all the grants and handouts during covid 'emergency incompetence', proving they didn't need them.

At the time these bailouts first appeared some argued it would have been fairer to give every business and self-employed person an unconditional grant as a tax advance that would then be recouped on the next tax return or self-assessment if it shows they didn't need it.

Instead many fell through the cracks and were told to rely on universal credit or other pitiful handouts for those suddenly without an income through no fault of their own, yet with all the bills and debts from their now unviable business.

Alternatively tax all those that caught covid and survived, it's what the economy was trashed for, so they should be grateful to be able to pay their dues back to society. Raid those pensions.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.
