oops - divorce by DNA test?

Woman makes shock discovery that she is NOT actually related to her father | Daily Mail Online

Woman whose dad gave the family DNA ancestry kits for Christmas finds out he's NOT her real father - and reveals her paternal match is a 'billionaire old family friend'

    • TikToker Cat McDonald discovered a family secret after she was given a DNA test
    • Cat explained that her father had the 'brilliant' idea to gift her family DNA tests
    • But the results saw her get a paternal match - but it shockingly wasn't her father
    • She said her father 'recognised' the name of the man, who was a 'family friend'
"If you didn't do anything that wasn't good for you it would be a very dull life. What are you gonna do? Everything that is pleasant in life is dangerous."

I want to see the hand of history on his collar.

The operative word in that sentence: 'was'...

Funny, I thought it was "billionaire"...

Also, how do they know who was the father?

Knowing who isn't I can understand but...

Well unfortunately for his own daughter he wants nothing to do with her.

            Can’t they just be friends?

I wonder how many lawyers have been in touch to advise her of her legal rights to his assets.

Surely it's a breach of something or other to reveal a genetic match that way, unless the billionaire ticked a box (or didn't tick a box) that allowed his identity to be shared with potential genetic matches

The mum was shook? Surely she’d have noticed the conception....

That's the big problem... the billionaire doesn't have to ticket a box. As long as someone closely related to him did then it will show you are a close relative of whoever that relative is and you can draw your conclusion from that. It's all quite sick and shouldn't be legal.

A distant family member of mine is adopted (early 60s) and was able to figure out who their biological family was through one of those sites even though they never consented to supplying that information. Just was able to figure it out through a match with their relatives and then a short conversation with one of the person they matched with on facebook.
