    Nuttina - planned parenthood!

Scientists are developing an oral contraceptive for grey SQUIRRELS | Daily Mail Online

That's nuts! Scientists are developing an oral contraceptive pill for grey SQUIRRELS in a desperate bid to cut the numbers of the destructive pest

    • Grey squirrels are an invasive species which is displacing native red squirrels
    • Work is underway to control their populations and limit how easily they breed
    • Scientists are now working on formulating an oral contraceptive pill for this
    • Tory peer Lord Goldsmith of Richmond spoke about it in the House of Lords
    Will make some posters happy!

Why are our own species always in decline while these foreign invaders flourish? The obvious solution to wildlife loss is for every country to export their own species to a foreign country and take in theirs in return.

Slightly more seriously it is odd how some species, like hedgehogs, are in decline while others flourish. If it's all about habitat loss etc. why are some species unaffected?

Compared to Australia we are very lucky most of our wildlife doesn't actively want to kill us.

Because the invaders tend to exploit loopholes that evolution has missed on our natives. Same way that some firms flourish and some flounder with similar offerings.

Even the plants do, where else but Australia would you find a tree sized stinging nettle with stings that last 6 months?

Although even Australia has been plagued by invasive species. Rabbits, cane toads, and now apparently herds of feral camels.

We need to implement the same tactic in council estates.

With the ability to make smart drugs that only target certain groups you'd think there'd be one for poor people in making already as well.
