    Freedom of speach

Should free speach cover those whose views you find abhorrent or should we just restrict to those that the PC lovies find acceptable?

"free speech includes not only the inoffensive but the irritating, the contentious, the eccentric, the heretical, the unwelcome and the provocative provided it does not tend to provoke violence. Freedom only to speak inoffensively is not worth having." -- Lord Justice Sedley, Redmond-Bate v BPP 1999

No restrictions. Start reining back on people that talk Kobblers and we might as well shut this place down. And then what would the hard-core of resident billy-no-mates muppets do? Molesting squirrels and Passat Polishing?

You cannot now protest within 1 mile of Parliament or Downing Street

The muslim with only hooks for hands (I forget his name) is being deported to the USA for "suspicion of terrorism" despite only having advocated violence against non-muslims.

That's terrible! Can't we just stone him here instead?

I don't think the thread was anything about CUK, more a reference to the Oxford Union debate / non-debate this week.
