    Java vs .NET

To all you old people out there

    I need career advice.

I am seniorish level Java developer being offered a long term .Net contract.

Same deal applies TDD, Using linx, and they want to use MVC design pattern on the .Net app.

I am worried about losing hardwon java skills and weary to embark on a new learnign curve again even though C# and Java are pretty interchangable and the design patterns and methodologies for the two platforms appear to be converging in a way.

I can easily get another gig, but my question is do you think I should leave and carry on a Java track or use the opportunity to broaden my skills base and knowledge

I suppose there are pros and cons but I would love some valuable insights even if they are hidden within sarky comments, veiled insults and generally smart alec and off color remarks.

Insight from DA as an rec agent will also be tolerated

                Sorry,

If your Java is very strong then it is not a problem.

if you're into TDD and design patterns, please do come over to .NET as there are still far too many drag-n-drop forms cowboys in circulation.

having said that, it doesn't really matter what your skillset is, as you'll still get emails every day from agents offering 30 - 35k to be a VBA / Sql Server developer in Swindon. (or is that just me?)
