Its all very well realising now that more should have been done to regulate the banks. That horse has bolted.

What, in your mind is the next big potential disaster that should receive a lot of focus right now ?

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Brown saying he is going to spend our way out of the recession by putting forward billions of £ of projects to create jobs.... just another senseless policy.

Food shortage caused by the credit crisis.

Don't laugh. Farmers in some parts of the world cannot get the loans they need to plant crops. Linky: Bloomberg.

        Go long* agricultural commodities.

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

            "Hello ma"
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

It just goes to show how much the world is subsidised by cheap energy. Food is meant to be an energy source rather than a sink. It seem like the great technological revolutions of the past 100 years have been nothing more than fast ways of using up cheap energy reserves. Boomed.
