If you watched a roulette wheel and saw red follow black 18 times out of 19, which way would you bet after the 20th black?

"Let me offer you a bet: give me £100 and take a ball out of my hat. One ball says I give you back £92 while the other 18 say I give you £179. Interested?"

What about the other ball with "You lose the lot, sucker!"? He seems to have forgotten that one.

If you invest in a FTSE tracker fund then you will be safe?

Or are things worse than the last depression and we are the edge of the abyss?

No fund or scheme on Earth can protect against an economy sinking beyond a certain point.

I actually saw 18 consecutive black-odds happen in a casino in London about 20 years ago. I had been to cash in some winnings and returned to the table and there had been a run of about 8 black-odds, according to a mate, so I backed red-even until I had no more money. I stopped going to casinos after that because it convinced me that they are bent.
After I had lost that money, my mate said that the ball had left the table just before that run started.

It's as rare as an honest pimp to find a proper (i.e. not in someone's front room/a back street, etc.) gaming place that is bent, in the way you suggest. The odds are, forever, in their favour without need to cheat.
