Yep - I did that once.

At the on site meeting with company 2 (who I wanted to work for) I told them I already had a verbal offer from company 1 (which was the truth). I had a call on the way home to say company 2 had offered me the job, which I took.

I really don't expect too much of this sort of thing over the next year or so to be honest.
