Default Buying a second hand bicycle

My ex-Halfords child's bicycle is good fun to ride - the combination of my 6'2" frame and its small frame means my centre of gravity is over the front handle bars when braking or going down-hill. This is great for an adrenaline rush when you need to brake, but I am also interested in getting a bicycle that is more adult sized that has thinner tyres and possibly has drop handle bars so that I can go really fast in safety. I don't want to pay more than about £50 or so though, so it must be a second-hand bike and not any old rubbish. What make of bike should I look out for in the local rag?

And after three months riding, you get a free set of "legs of steel".

Watch for those pesky auction snipers though. It's so unfair that they can bid just before the auction ends

In a move to pull together a couple of threads from today, here you go.

Second hand (probably nicked) bicycles at an auction site that says they:
We reserve the right to automatically extend this fixed time period by up to 10 minute increments where the highest bid is submitted within 10 minutes before the close of an auction to allow time for responses and final bids.
This lot are going for £1: http://www.bumblebeeauctions.co.uk/X...m.asp?ID=57166

You'd think they would steal the new ones!
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
