A new Public Holiday - when?

If we were to have an extra Public Holiday in England - specifically England - when should it be?

St George's Day causes some discussion, but why should it be then?

Should it be a sporting event in the summer? Coincide with the last day of a cricket test final? Wimbledon?

Make it a principle to avoid a religious event?

Should it be spring, summer, autumn or winter - and why?

Should it be a Monday, or another day?

Not a new holiday - move one of the many we have in spring time round to the other half of the year.

    Suggestions:

    Samhain / Hallowe’en - 31 Oct
    Agincourt Day - 25 Oct
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Peterloo Massacre day, around August 16th. To be sunny, and fit in nicely between the Scottish and English August bank holidays.

November 5th. Defeat of terrorism and the ritual burning of Catholics. All good stuff.

It would also plug a bit of a holiday hole between August and Christmas.

No new bank hols please. Just mean a forced non-billable day for most contractors who then have to spend it with all those crowds of rif-raff if they venture out.

            It'll work next time.

                  Only 1 new holiday?

Can't we have a few dotted nicely around the calendar to give us something to look forward to?
