    Quiz - Identify the character

A great leader, he led his ten closest followers into a famous battle and was seriously wounded. His allies in the battle thought he was vainglorious, overly concerned with his dignity and too self centered, but his followers worshipped him.
He then teamed up with a famous Western prince and embarked on voyages of discovery, particulary to the far east, where he set off alone one day and was never heard of again.

clue. In those days the weapon of choice was the rapier sword

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

EO : In those days the weapon of choice was the rapier sword
There is no such thing as a rapier sword.

                A rapier, yes.

                A sword, yes.

                But not a rapier sword.

It's a bit like saying, "The knight wielded a longsword sword" instead of just "a longsword".

As for the leader...Hmmm, I'm getting an inclination that he was a calvary officer in the US during the Civil War of Independence ?
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

factually correct, but i needed to obfuscate.

                  Not a US Cavalryman
