Default Just seen an ideal role in Sidney, but ..

Anyone contracted down under, and have an idea of any downsides?

Obviously the beach is nice in Sidney and all that, but what are the locals like and how are the rates likely to compare with Blighty?

I was miserable and depressed, but CUK turned it all around. Now I'm depressed and miserable.

It's OK if you don't mix with the locals.

Yes, and they're usually much worse than what you'd get here (But still decent by local standards). Almost dollar for pound. Mind you that was a while ago, may have changed since then ...

You'll pay more in tax but the quality of life is unbelievably good).

Er, care to elaborate? I imagine I'd be working mostly with locals.

    He's talking bollox.

The locals are great, about as close to us in temperament as another country can get. With a few improvements imo.

I've spent a winter in Sydney. I think it rained for about 3 months. Summer was good though. There's not many cities in the world where you can live 30 seconds from a world class beach and a 20 minute bus ride from the centre of town. Or get a ferry to work.

Exactly, I used to live in Coogie and contracted in the CBD. Great life.
