On average I'll stick to them. It's just that I'll drink my entire allowance on a Saturday night

    My parents do.

I don't. How can you take limits that were made-up seriously?

It's the same with speed-limits really.

The 21 units for men is probably based on an 8 stone weed so I don't have to worry, drinking copious amounts has the added benefit of adding more pounds so you can soak up even more.

    Win win.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

    21 units - that's a minimum? Right?

There's a guy at our rugby club called 'Sponge' because he follows that theory. Crap player, champion drinker though.

There's no point being good at amateur sport - it will only impinge on your drinking time.

The better you get, the more training you need to do. Then your team moves up the divisions and you play teams further away....

    It's a slippery slope.

The idea is to make you feel guilty. Then when you do that test to see if you have a drink problem, you'll find that you do, because one of the questions is "have you ever felt guilty after drinking?".

There's an article possibly on timesonline.co.uk, where a journalist tried to drink 3 times the limits for a week. His health was tested before and after. What I found interesting is that he had to stop drinking before his peers.

One [study] found that men drinking between 21 and 30 units of alcohol a week had the lowest mortality rate in Britain. Another concluded that a man would have to drink 63 units a week, or a bottle of wine a day, to face the same risk of death as a teetotaller.

Duct tape holds the universe together. In quantum chromodynamics it's known as the strong force. You get it in different colours, but metallic grey is best.
