Bravo Sarkozy, more, more, more ....

It is about the only thing that will get the UK to leave the EU.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

No, I am not - next door in Europe it is possible to legally own firearms, this country is totally backwards in it's current policies when it comes to right to self defense (firearms help even out the odds in it).

              Really?

That doesn't seem to me to be a sensible basis for assessing the responsibility of an applicant.

Whatever else, at least I can comfort myself with the knowledge that were I to move to another country to live (which I wouldn't), I would never be so pig flippin' ignorant as to tell my hosts how to run their country.

Unlike a certain person on this forum.

If you don't like it you know where the door is. If you don't like how this country is run there are lots of others to choose from.

Oh yeah. it does a great job in the USA. I'd be afraid that a) I'd have to keep it under my pillow, b) that my kid would get a hold of it and kill himself

Nope. sorry, keep the gun laws as they are.

To be fair though, regarding the USA you are talking about a society that thinks nudity is more dangerous than violence
