          A mate of mine was benched for quite a while. I arranged a weekly transfer into his account until he was back in work.

          In my recent bench time he reminded me of this fact and offered to do the same.

          That's what real mates are.

                  Now Churchill’s point about helping out a mate is a different matter; that’s good moral behaviour.
