I agree with much of your list, but on this one I would ask, who then will make any decent TV programmes? I see none on any other channels, and no, the evidence from the US does not show that this is a gap that will be filled by commercial television if only it gets the chance.

No BBC = I will be back here on "Technical" asking how to get WGBH - if they're still making good programmes without the BBC.
