    Do I not like Gumtree

Gumtree. Hmm. Do I not like Gumtree.

Try and sell your used goods there for a good price. You'll get people contacting you wanting it for next to nothing. Sorry - I'd rather give to charity.

Advertise a spare room. I did so, got someone in nice car nice suit... and after a few nights the **** did a runner without paying.

A girl I know told me said she had dodgy blokes sending her audition offers to be a porn star.

Advertise for a flat mate. They come to view, they're very keen smartly dressed good job but when you email them that you want a deposit upfront, rent in advance, standing order for rent, tennancy agreement, references... for some reason you don't hear from them again.

Does Gumtree have a meaning that I am not aware of? Seems to attract many conmen. People who don't understand they have to pay for things.

People are very rarely willing to accept that their lovingly hoarded tat is worth little on the open market.

Sounds like an agent. You should know better.

I don't think this is unique to gumtree.

Perhaps they didn't want to share a flat with you? I personally gave up sharing with complete strangers when I left Uni.

I should add that, for personal reasons, Gumtree holds a special place in my heart.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'
