Hello everyone,
I co-own an IT company in Manchester which specialises in hire of IT and presentation equipment for corporate use and also software development with my sister (the latter is something we have just branched out into due to a couple of new software experts in our team). I would like to get to chat here with anyone else in the business and also to ask advice on a pressing issue.
It is my sister and I that do the book-keeping and payroll in and I have been struggling for a while with payroll software. Ridiculous as we are now specialists in software. I feel unqualified to use it in the sense that when something doesn't add up then I don't know where it has gone wrong. Holiday pay is one area where we have struggled to keep up and employees have complained about mistakes. Also I have overpaid several employees in the last year and then had to all them into the office to ask them for the money back and this has caused some bad feeling. All this is down to our payroll 'system'. I am not sure whether I should invest in new and much better software such as Sage or I should turn outsourced payroll services.
I have been looking at this company - Ceridian but am unsure whether our number of employees warrants outsourcing. We have thirty staff members who are all valuable and worry that we will lose them if we do not pay them properly all of the time.
Please, does anyone have any ideas and can you tell me about your experiences? Sorry if I have not put this pist in an appropriate place.
Thank you
