Is there anything more weak-minded and meaningless than having "faith"? Is there anything more weak-minded and meaningless than having "faith"?

Religious types talk about their faith. But what is that really? Essentially it's an abrogation of one's intellect, reason and the evidence of your senses in order to believe, with no grounds at all, in the existence of a supernatural being.

So using your intellect, reason and evidence of your senses to be sceptical is more weak-minded than having faith?

faith is holding a belief, then refusing to let anything in to undermine or shake that belief.

I agree as soon as someones tells me they believe in something that has clearly caused and is causing so much of the worlds problems, and they believe this because it's written in some text that is inconsistent, not backed up by any evidence, I immediately regard that person and deluded. Religion and faith have done some much damage human civilisation I can't wait form the day it dies out.

    Yes.

    1. Forcing others to believe the same as you.

    2. Killing others for not believing the same as you.

The definition of a deluded mind. Believe in something written in a book thousands of years old, which was patently written in a time before we new much about the natural world.

Who are the proponents of these acts? The religious, the faithful.

Yes, the need to 'big up' yourself by belittling others beliefs. The arrogance in assuming your viewpoint is the only valid one.
