It's nice to be safely middle class with all your education paid for by the taxpayer way back when. Heaven forbid those who have that right taken away (and I think it should be a right this is the economic future of the country) should make their feelings known. I can't think of any major political change that has occurred through democracy. Civil action is the only way anything ever changes!
Good luck to them and may it work out the way the poll tax demonstrations did, i.e. change the policy, because democracy aint going to do it.Last edited by Bagpuss; 9 December 2010, 23:11.The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

They'll probably soon all be directing traffic in John O'Groats.
I wholeheartedly condemn the thugs that caused this mayhem, but I am in some way pleased that these two, pampered royal creatures had their gilded cage rattled for a moment. Charles really is astonishingly aloof, and towers above the everyday concerns of small people. Perhaps this encounter might shake his complacency a bit.
You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

The economic argument can be dealt with by corporate bursaries.
Just my opinion...Older and ...well, just older!!Comment

In the interests of balance I will quote a comment that I read elsewhere:
May I take this opportunity to praise the brave and stalwart revolutionaries who yesterday attacked the bloated Rolls Royce carrying the next head of state and his fatuous wife. This was a splendid gesture which will thrill and inspire our young people for years to come. Also a suitable and fitting riposte to the mindless vandalism and violence inflicted yesterday by parliament on higher education.Job motivation: how the powerful steal from the stupid.Comment

They also expect you to pay their gold-plated pensions while leaving you with **** all. They expect you to pay for their old age but won't give you an education to equip you with the skills that could help. They've already mortgaged all your future tax payments but want you to bend over and take it like a bitch.
these protestors do not represent 'the British'
I, on the other hand, don't think a university education is, or should be, a right.Comment

If it was just the elite that went to university there wouldn't be the issue, but in the modern world elitism isn't politically correct.
I don't have a lot of sympathy for these protesters as you know that in 10 years when they're all in their middle class jobs they'll be the first to complain about the next generation of students. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment
