Setting benefits by inflation 'is unfair' - Telegraph

Another reason why low interest rates are hurting, those that contribute feck all are immune to rising costs.

Saw on Newsnight last night that they mentioned UK inflation being almost the highest in Europe and interest rates being almost the lowest, yet they all decided to ignore that and moan about QE and VAT reductions.

One pleb mentioned low interest rates are helping mortgage owners, yet failed to mention they are also not helping mortgage owners by having all their other costs inflated beyond affordability.

So while tinkering around the edges they're still going to cause what they're trying to prevent, and probably make it much worse. Bunch of s.

I think we're in the middle of Inside Job 2, where an 'elite' bunch are fleecing the rest.

Can't help but wonder how paying off eveyone's mortgage courtesy of savers is going to rescue the economy. Maggie would have had interest rates up to 20% by now and would be watching the feckless squirm, and saying "press a little harder".

I would also say raise interest rates but the country has a bad enough time trying to increase let alone maintain exports.

Increase interest rates to punish one group (silly homebuyers) and you punish two groups bringing even less REAL money into the economy.

The government is powerless and by default no longer fit for purpose.

Until that changes the country shall continue to rot.
