    I feel sick

Light-headed, tiredness, shivering, nauseous but can't throw up, a bit of a dodgy tummy, almost complete loss of appetite.

Apparently there's a bug going around.

    I need a cuddle

P.S. I'm still in the office, still working and still invoicing. All hail CUK.

            Have you gone Permie?

Contractors are never sick (it says so in the terms and conditions you were given with your badge and gun.)

So that's what the gun's for.

The t&c's don't say that at all. What they do say is that a contractor should never admit to or give the impression of being sick

On a slightly related note, a few years back I felt like I had a really bad chest cough and phoned the client to tell them I wouldn't be in that day but would definitely be in the day after.
About 30 minutes later my wife was calling an ambulance for me

                    Chicken.

You should have gone into work and simply sat there, stiff upright. (Hint: Remember the Kipper sketch in Fawlty Towers? Be the guy in bed - except make sure your wife has put your final invoice in your top pyjama pocket.)
