My cousin was stabbed to death by his ex girlfriend and some of her friends - is that less important because he was a guy?
One of my friends was jumped and beaten by 4 strangers as he was making a phone call outside a pub. He almost died from the injuries but managed to survive and is now confined to a wheel chair - is that less important because he is a guy?Comment

During a BBC phone-in about wife abuse a couple of years ago, I've heard radio presenters and their experts actually snigger at the idea, when some poor bloke phoned in saying it happened to him.Comment

I was at the Tewkesbury battle re-enactment last year and got talking to a German guy. Apparently they were against a French group and things got tense to the point where a French guy ran forward and punched him in the face. This German happens to be a boxer so he rained a series of punches back at the Frenchman which were enough to dent the guy's visor in and send him spralling. Ructions broke out when the French guy got his lid open and everyone saw it was actually a girl - the French guys started shouting at this German and he just shrugged and said "she hit me first" (with a metal gauntlet on). It almost caused an actual armed fight between the two groups.
I could not get my head around why people thought he should not be entitled to defend himself against an armed assailent due to their gender.Comment
