BBC News - Recession prompted 'unprecedented' fall in wages

Wages have fallen more in real terms in the current economic downturn than ever before, according to a report.

On top of the rising cost of living, one third of workers who stayed in the same job saw a wage cut or freeze between 2010 and 2011, said the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).
so should we count ourselves lucky?

Admin tells us our pay is going up by 7.5% so we are fine. Don't worry about it.

I know I was undercharging when I started, as my rates have gone up 180% between my first contract 2 years ago and now (when I charge more than every other contractor in my field tells me is the max achievable).

My rates dropped second half of last year , but they are back up to normal. However they haven't risen much overall since I started contracting.
