    The next gravy train?

Year 2038 problem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Further, while most programs will only be affected in or very close to 2038, programs that work with future dates will begin to run into problems much sooner. For example, a program that works with dates 24 years in the future will have to be fixed no later than 2014.

I'll be 78 years old by then, or dead.

So yes it will be important to resolve the problem for my computer controlled zimmer frame or wheelchair. I don't want it suddenly taking off at 100mph backwards!

I'd be more worried about a couple of very large asteroids on a collision course with the planet before that date.

The government will have moved your state pension age to at least 85 by then, so don't be too quick to turn this work down.

Or, as you say, you might have been far more fortunate and simply died.

You don't need exact date - you won't miss it...
