Marillion 'understood where the internet was going early on'

Marillion fans invented the Internets apparently.

Marillion when dropped from EMI was the first group to crowd fund on the Web. In fact before the invention of the. 'web' that was the name of the fan club for Marillion. They had a huge list of members and when the WWW came along they took full advantage.

Marillion release albums to their fan club. We pay a preorder and they produce the album sending to members and printing their names on the insheet. Cleverest marketing for bands ever.
