I do feel sorry for some permies - they don't want to risk leaving permiedom for lack of a buffer to protect them from the bench. At the same time they are sick of permiedom because it isn't getting them anywhere.....

The only way I was able to escape was by risking it all and just leaving with no savings whatsoever. I found the choice being between getting depressed and risking it all to escape from the prison I felt I was in.

Not sure what that has to do with going back to you ex-employer to visit your ex-colleagues hoping for a big reception from them but I can see where you come from in that. Not too dissimilar for me.

        Sad twats.

Whiners are pretty annoying, I agree.

Maybe it was like a pity visit... doing some charity work. Your bit for the world and all.

Sometimes the key to a long contract can be encouraging others to stop moaning about how much you earn and make the jump themselves

It doesn't have to be obvious just the occasional subtle comment back... things like "don't moan about my life you are your own master no-one tied you to that desk..." tends to work wonders

Didn't work for Psychocandy. All he did was start moaning about his life.

I think it depends on the company.
SOME companies do have a great working enviroment, even for permies, and you do build up a real bond there as a fellow permie.
So in those circumstances it is OK, ney good, to keep in touch.

I used to do it for the Cheques, they could of done a bank transfer to pay the occasional day jobs I did for them but had to take my contact out for beers and pick up the cheques signed by the muppet who made me angry enough to leave.

I would walk down to the bank admiring his signature!
