EU referendum may confuse voters 'not aware country is part of union

    I smell a rat.

The Bill suggests as a referendum question: “Do you think that the United Kingdom should be a member of the European Union?” That question has now been reviewed by the Electoral Commission, the official watchdog on the conduct of elections and referendums.

“A few people did not know whether or not the UK is currently a member of the EU, and this presented a risk of misunderstanding,” the commission found.

The commission’s chairman, Jenny Watson, told MPs that they should now consider changing the form of the question.

Couldn't they make the the question

"Do you want to be run by unelected EU bureaucrats or unelected British bureaucrats ?"

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

But unelected British bureaucrats are unelected EU bureaucrats.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Perhaps the first question should be "Define 'referendum' ".
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Perhaps initially the voter should undergo a quick test to see if they know what the EU and the UK are, weed out the cretins and UKIP voters (*) first...

(*) they'll be the ones muttering and frothing at the mouth
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Wait until they find out that after leaving the EU, many European treaties will still apply, they'll still fall under the ECHR and France will still be in the way when they want to drive or fly to Italy on holiday.

I don't really see why a referendum is such a good idea. Why would millions of cretins take a better decision than hundreds of cretins?

And they'll have to get visas and drive through customs through the non-EU lanes and get bottom searched :-)
