    A cheapskate option would be to get a gold plating kit, sneakily borrow her smart phone and do a DIY job of gold plating her phone

    Surely watches are obsolete now

          Yeah!! When did that happen?
          Raymond Weil always made very slim and elegant dress watches, ultra-slim and delicate - about as far from robust as you could get!
          They always stood out.

          Nowadays they just seem to do generic clumpy/blocky carp which could be made by anybody
