    Have broken a habit

I never normally get contracts reviewed, as my working practices are in general very far outside IR35 and I reckon I can do a reasonable read of a contract.

But this time it's a shocker so it's off to QDOS. It appears not to be a contract between my Ltd and the client, but between me as an individual (and not even named as Director) with the client. There's no hurry with this, but I can see it being a bit tricky.

Try to get it amended to be between the client and some other named individual instead, so they are the one clouted with IR35 while you collect the money.

I had the same thing where they had me as a named individual in the contract and QDOS failed it. Just replaced all instances of my name with "The Consultant" and they were ok with it after that.

I've actually got one in on a 24 hour turnaround with QDOS at the moment - first time I've ever had to pay for it - they seem to have changed the rules. Used to be 3 free contract reviews per year now it's 1 per policy you hold with them. Still, a drop in the ocean and worth every penny for that peace of mind.

There's a lot more wrong with it than that, but having the right parties to the contract identified would be a start.

Yes, I'm afraid we had to strip the free assessments back to one per policy. We basically had an entire team of experienced consultants doing free reviews and when IR35 investigations started to ramp up it became tricky.

...and you needed QDOS to point this out to you?
