Contractors raise legal challenge against Offshore Scheme Providers

*** Note *** This user has been banned until they provide more details about the group. We have seen scheme users get taken for a ride before and want to protect our site readers as much as possible. This is not a slight on this group, simply that we know nothing about them.

Hello to all those who have been contracting through any Company which has been using any legal tax avoidance scheme such as EBTs. We have a team of City based Tax Lawyers who will be challenging the providers of the schemes. If you would like to join the group please get in touch via private message, the bigger the group the more power it will have in light of the upcoming HMRC litigation for repayment of tax against loans and fees

    regards
    Contractor Jedi

    Hi Contractor Jedi,

Looked into this with a small group of guys caught out by EBTs.. the advice we received was that it was highly unlikely that we would either win or see any funds should we be successful (mainly looking around willful deceit, knowingly mis-selling etc etc). I wish you success (I think everyone here would as well), but before you spend a great deal on this, be very very clear on your strategy and contractual positions. One thing these companies were good at was CYA.

I have PM'd you as I would be interested to know on what grounds you plan to challenge them on, given you have stated what they offered is/was legal?

For the avoidance of doubt, this post is nothing to do with Big Group and we are not connected in any way with the exercise. We are not aware of who is behind this initiative nor what research or other ideas they have.

We have not been approached by the group and are not recommending any of our members to them.

If that situation changes, we will say so.

And when they give us the same courtesy as Big Group and tell us a little more about themselves I may consider lifting the ban.

Until that time they won't be receiving or sending PMs.
