But surely our Phil would never have asked his colleagues to post great reviews?

Not sure what is strange about it tbh.

I'm merely speaking from experience. At first, I thought Phil was excellent. Seemed a genuine guy, certainly offered some hope and talked a good game.

I found his colleagues at DSW, who should have been 'managing' my account whilst he fronted the operation to be very very green (that's being kind) and he obviously had bigger plans afoot than merely processing administrative tasks like my account andor liaison with HMRC on my behalf. As it happens, the kids working for him completely cocked this up which gave me no alternatives but to disengage them. The failure in service coincided with the increased profile and the reliance on others imho.

I then engaged WTT as the 'other' option as this seems a relatively niche market. I found them to be wholly uncommunicative, to the point where GW, was ignoring my polite emails asking for some update/any form of proactive communication.

Despite numerous requests, that didn't occur, so I disengaged them and went with another supplier who had been recommended to me at a chance business meeting.

He's been first rate. Honest, no-nonsense, communicative and has done more for me in a few weeks than the others managed in two years.

I'm now 99% through the process and therefore very happy to recommend him to others. I've had many requests via PM for details and have happily provided them.

I've not posted his details on a public forum as firstly, I do not have his permission and secondly, I'd rather not tarnish his name by posting it alongside lesser firms who, in my opinion, have canvassed for the business of the vulnerable using forum's like this and BIG group which, from the outside looking in, seems to have been one big money maker.

So, that's it, that's my position. No agenda's, no allies and certainly no incentivisation from any of the aforementioned occupiers of this niche little market.

APNMISERY21 I think that many people will have similar experience like yourself, I'm one of them. Unfortunately I went out as well and paid another tax adviser (not from the mentioned above) who just told me after 3 months and £3000 later that he will look into my case in couple of weeks time . Could you please send me a PM with the contact of the adviser you have used ? Unfortunately I'm still a new member and have less than 5 posts so I can't send PM. Many thanks

If you want to settle then any tax advisor can help - something that Graham has mentioned on several posts before. Tbh - you could just about manage it yourself. Just get a local accountant -there is no specialist skills required here - this is what APNMISERY21 has done. What was your accountant charging £3000 for? That's a lunatic sum for settlement.

If you want to fight (and for some this is the only option given the sums involved) then you need to speak to WTT because they simply have more experience, more members and more cash available to fund a battle with HMRC. If you try and do this on your own you'll face heavy bills from both accountants and lawyers.

You should also consider joining LCAG who are doing great work.
