    Open invitation to advisers

    If you were a contractor, you would be forgiven for thinking that everybody is out to get you at the moment;

    • Legacy tax issues remain frustratingly uncertain and undecided despite Rangers determining the treatment
    • The loan charge remains a thing of mystery with many uncertainties
    • Loans are resurfacing and being demanded
    • IR35 changes threaten to reduce immediate take home
    • Agencies and end clients are narrowing choice of umbrella
    • HMRC publications on all of this are incomplete, vague and often produced from positions of denial

The path through all of this is unclear. Those of us in the advisory space often have different ideas and strategies. Whilst we are all convinced of the merits of our own position, we have different ways of getting there and also perhaps “there” is different.

There are however common threads and challenges.

We at WTT are therefore extending an invitation to all and any advisers in this space, tax, legal, insolvency, accounting, umbrella, recruitment, political etc, to attend an initial meeting of minds on 24th March at 10:00 to run through the above issues (and more) and to perhaps contribute to a single source of information for contractors - past, present and future - which is agreed by all of us.

Where we have differences, these will continue to be separate. We’re trying to create a resource for contractors which is expert, peer reviewed perhaps, consistent and fair.

Depending on numbers we’ll host it at our premises. If attendance is too large we will fund and book somewhere appropriate.

If you’d like to join please email [email protected] and we’ll respond with the finer details. We’ll let everyone know who is in attendance for the purposes of transparency. From there we’ll try to hold a larger event for contractors too who can then input into the discussion.

Hopefully, as many of us as possible can come together and try to defend the industry that remains imperative to the UK industry.

We look forward to hearing from you.

              I'll put it on Linkedin.

You may share it with whomever you wish.

Think there are clear dividing lines between the core groups. Way it is. I don't fully trust any.

                  I have had three contacts.

                  One is a lobby group.

                  One is an insolvency practitioner.

                  One is an umbrella.

I confess, not what I was expecting.

I agree with the post above that advisers have different ideas. I would not have expected every idea to be agreed upon or even be discussed.

My view is however that there are sufficient similarities in what we do to create a discussion.

Also - critically - we all want to help our clients.

Come on - where are you!
