      enquiry

      Hi

New to the group, but long time sufferer like you selves. I was with the downey fitz herbert partnership.
I received a letter from HMRC basically telling me i had been avoided tax whilst at this partnership and pay up a large sum by end October, but with no evidence has anyone else had this?

Yup, it cost me£18k, HMMRC did let me pay it back over time though..I'm surprised it's taken them so long to get you, couple more years and you may have off lucky

Just out of curiosity, how long did they let you pay it back over? I'm trying to get an idea how long I'd be allowed...

I have the same from HMRC and have been asked to pay it before Nov 2. Spoke to the person at HMRC and he told me that they know everything about Bradbury/Sunday solutions. They said I need to disclose the profit figure that I have from my partnership before they can workout any reductions.
I am really struggling to find any figures that they had ever sent me.

What are you doing in this regard ?

Myself and a few former colleagues have all received demands from HMRC. Not sure where the figure is being generated from as it bears no relation to what I submitted in expenses to them and what I received into my bank account each month. I transferred to Von Essen and they assured me that this was seamless at the time so I've been frantically tracking down as much paperwork as I can for that time period which I'll take to an accountant.

Any idea why this has come up after all this time?

Any advice from those who've dealt with HMRC on this before and was anything ever successfully clawed back from Bradbury?

No idea as to why this has come up. I've got a feeling that Bradbury have given the partnership figures to HMRC as HMRC has given me the figure that they think I earned in 2009.

I have been asked to pay more than 20k which is a lot of money because I've already lost lot of money.

I spoke to the person at HMRC and he wanted me to send him any proof that the final figures that he had is not the correct figure.

I have spoken to many people who are advising me to pay it off.

HMRC have all the details so there is no point in providing false accounts. The guy at HMRC even told me that they have many of the people from our partnerships who have contacted them.

I was a fool to believe that this setup was the most legal way to get money paid.

Anyways, I've got the following options now:

                  1) Pay the money off in instalments, need to check if they would allow me to do that. I simply don't have 20k to pay them.

                  2) Work out all the paper work and prove to HMRC that I've not received the profits that was given to me in the final statement.

                  3) Wait till someone here to give us any ideas on how people dealt with this.

Any help/info from people who contacted HMRC and had their payment reduced will be much appreciated!

Do we know what is HMRC doing where people just cannot pay?
