    Adding one to the numbers

Long time lurker recent register. Just sending off my appeal response after 1) the brown envelope for 08/09 and 2) a Self Assessment which includes the figure for 08/09

Keen to join said group as long as we can verify the credentials of our legal representative.

I think this is going to be a rather drawn out affair and am starting to put some acorns asside...

It goes without saying that good advice doesn't come cheap, and should any litigation be required then the costs can quickly mount up (let's hope that's not required).

By asking admin in the 'Contact Us' page.

          But I'll let him know.

              Round up others

Given TheDandy's helpful efforts to gather expressions of interest in group representation there is obvious benefits in gathering as many Edge employees as possilbe.

Can I ask you to contact any colleagues or friends that you know were with Edge, keep an eye out on other forums and generally keep your ear to the ground for Edgers and point them all in this direction.

There is no obligation for them to join in or even announce themselves, but there is plenty of information here that can help anyone affected.

                London Seminar

I am pleased to say that we now have more than 20 attending the Seminar to be held in Central London on 6 or 7 April.

We would like a lot more to attend this one-off event and I am sure that Edge Consulting will be one of the schemes about which there will be a number of questions.

'Convict' who is organising this event has posted a brief agenda for the event which lasts from 11am to 3pm.

To book a place please go to the separate thread: Seminar on HMRC actions, EBT's and Tax Assessments/Enquiries/COP 8

Received a Self Assessment Statement Today

I received a Self Assessment Statement today, which has basically added the interest to the outstanding Tax Liability.

There doesn't appear to the a Pay By date on this.

Has anyone else received one? Is this just the open position?

Update: Penny dropped that the date of my Appeal Acknowledgement is after this statement date.

                    --------------

Yes - I received one as well.

With a nice hefy interest charge as well.

I just photocopied it and sent it back to them with a copy of my appeals letter - I'm not for a second suggesting that's the thing to do, but hey, that's what I've done.

Although I'm a bit confused by it - have HMRC actually established their right to effectively retrospectively label these schemes as now taxable and send these 'bills' out or are they just 'at it' again?

I called HMRC who told me that it was due to a timing issue. I.e. my appeal letter was sent after this statement. The position is currently "suspended" pending further investigation is basically what I was told and that it was being looked into. So no change really. Thanks for responding to my post.
