To discuss the changes to PS contracts that are due later this year.

  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: Forced into contracting? Read this

Note: this thread is NOT for the usual IT Contractor posters on this site and will be heavily moderated. All posts will be welcome if they are helpful. I have noticed an increase in new posters to the CUK forums who do not come from the usual route of IT/Engineering/Oil & Gas industries. ...

  2. Sticky Thread Sticky: Working in the public sector? An FAQ about IR35

What's this all about then? In the 2016 Autumn Statement, the Chancellor confirmed that from the start of the following tax year (from April 6th 2017), the status of contractors / freelancers in the public sector would be assessed by the public sector body (PSB) engaging them either directly or...

  2. When GDPR meets IR35

So as a LTD company you should be GDPR compliant, if you are not compliant with GDPR and you handle personal data (as a worker) for your client under their Personal Information Management System/ governance will this hinder your claim for being outside of IR35?

  3. 2018 Finance bill

It sounds like last night some of the items in the finance bill were voted down in Parliament partly due to the DUP abstaining. Does anyone know if this has had any effect on the upcoming IR35 changes?

  4. Question Worth challenging IR35 PSC public sector decision?

I'm in a bit of a funny position at the moment. I work FT in the public sector. I work in 'shadow IT', outside the main IT department. The main IT department was given a last minute assignment and didn't have the resource internally to do the work. My own manager wouldn't give me up to the IT...

Hi all, I have been providing services via my own LTD company directly to my public sector client, who has deemed this engagement to be outside of IR35. 8. HMRC asking for Outside IR35 PSC details

Interesting - Ive not seen any discussion on this yet. HMRC 'witch hunt' seeks names and addresses of contractors operating outside IR35 I'm currently in the public sector, deemed outside IR35 by the client via CEST. I've used substitutes a couple of times.... Don't really understand this...

  10. Network Rail IR35 Assessment

Just seen a post on LinkedIn showing results of a FOI request to network Rail. Out of 340 Contractors assessed for IR35 this year between Jan 2018 and August 2018, 99.7% were found to be inside. 11. IR35 Employers NI

I'm thinking about accepting a contract with the MOD/army. The role was advertised as a day rate inside IR35, Umbrella, Company or PAYE. I don't think I've seen any MOD role outside since the new legislation came in, so it feels like MOD practice is everything is blanket inside. I don't think it's...

  12. Hypothetical situation - HMRC / IR35 review, deemed inside - tax bill? Who pays?

So lets say HMRC investigate someones IR35 practices within their PSC, they go through due process and come to the conclusion you should have been declared inside IR35 and been taxed accordingly. So basically they've went through this process - Unlucky 13 - The Dreaded IR35 Investigation -...
