If you are not up to snuff on IR35, exposure to this role will very rapidly bring you up to speed because you will be surrounded by contractors talking about it at the water cooler...

As for Do and Don'ts, while the advice here is all laudable, what is definite is that there is no sure thing. We are all guessing, and preparing, and hopefully shoring up war chests for tax decisions, all of which are down the line. As they have always been in the world of IR35.

You will have six months of GSK on your CV by April, by which time, you will have learned your way around IR35, and maybe there will be greater clarity about all that which everyone is still musing.

And if by then everything looks like it is based on a foundation of quicksand, leave and get a role elsewhere. Deferral of end decision, would be my advice.
So I talked to my accountant today, he told me to go the limited company route rather than Umbrella provided QDOS approve of the agency contract and they insure me for IR35 (I have communicated this to the agency to manage expectations)

Your accountant isn't an IR35 specialist. You pay him to do your books, not how to run your company. He's telling you what is right for tax efficiency, nothing more. . He has no idea of the risk you are facing and the problems contractors are facing coming up to April.

As I've suspected from early one. You are going to keep asking people until you get the answer you want to hear and ignore everything else. We see it time after time on here.

                    Latest state of play

                    Hi All

So I asked the agency representing GSK if the role falls inside or outside IR 35.

They gave me a really woolly response, saying it was up to me to determine this fact not them!

My Accountant has told me to tread carefully too, he advised me to ask the agency if the gig is inside or outside
They are saying they don't know, so he now wants me to get the contract assessed by QDOS.
Would you say the basic £49 package would suffice?

I must admit, alarm bells are starting to go off in my head

Umbrella just seems like a big drop though, do you think I could push the rate up ?
