As I've mentioned on other threads, my MP is the new Speaker of the House Lindsay Hoyle and he will almost certainly win his seat. No main party will contest it.
According to the one and only canvassing leaflet I've received in the post he will still be running his surgeries. I'm not sure what influence I could have on national politics if any because he won't vote on anything as a neutral.
I'm tempted to book an appointment and ask him if he can use his influence to push an IR35 debate up the agenda. I could reel of a list of unintended consequences of IR35 such as impact on working families and people with disabilities who depend on temporary contracts to keep them in employment. It's possible that highly skilled people will be pushed into protracted unemployment and benefits. Not to mention the overall impact on the economy.
Does anyone understand the political system well enough to say if I'd be wasting my time?
