    That leaves open the question of how you can be sure your umbrella is fully compliant but there are ways and means of doing that - which we are nearly finishing off.

    And putting people on payroll opens up a whole heap of other issues - the easiest way to scare HR is to say equal opportunities pay...
    They supplied that guidance ("unintended widening") weeks ago - yes, this is more formal, but they still need to update ITEPA.

    The way to ensure your umbrella is fully compliant is to not bother with one.

    Yep but the agencies will need to manage payroll (and all the employment stuff) themselves which smaller agencies won't want to do.

    There is definitely a market for umbrella companies going forward. If you are remaining a contractor continuity of employment via the same umbrella is likely to be very important if you need credit / a mortgage and you also have salary sacrifice options (pension, car deals can be very, very good that way).
