    Morning denizens

    Feeling a tad fragile today…

Let’s see how the Malmaison cooked-to-order breakfast stacks up against the Premier Inn buffet.

Not very well, it turns out. One sausage is, very clearly, neither two nor three sausages. And let's be realistic: black pudding is horrible. At least there was only a small bit of it, but I didn't bother finishing even that

Anyway, I'd better head home before the hotel tries to bill me for a late checkout

And thank you for inviting me

          Also: no beans? WTF?

I know some people argue against beans with a fried breakfast (Gary Bainbridge of the Liverpool Echo holds very strong views on this matter) but those people are simply wrong and misguided.

More generally, why can one never get a fried slice with a hotel breakfast nowadays? It's not as if it's a difficult thing to make, though it does take a bit of effort to do well. But these places employ professional chefs, and it shouldn't be beyond their capabilities to shove a bit of sliced white in a hot pan with some dripping

black pudding is a delight, and boudin noir, served with fried sweet apples and mash.
